Therapy or counseling
Licensed mental health care from a clinician.

- You are dealing with a mental health condition, trauma, or a crisis.
- Focus
- Healing and treatment, often including the past.
- Diagnoses or treats
- Yes. A licensed clinician can diagnose and treat.
- Licensed health care
- Yes. Regulated, and confidential under laws like HIPAA.
- Insurance
- Often covered, depending on your plan and provider.
- Where
- With a clinician licensed in your state.
A simple rule of thumb
If you are in crisis or working to treat a diagnosis, that is therapy. If you are steady enough day to day and want help moving toward a goal or a decision, that is coaching. Plenty of people do both at once, and that is a smart combination.
